About Mona
Mona Dumais is a 30-year survivor of breast cancer, as well as creator of the CD, Music from the Heart. The release of this meaningful and meditative collection, with all proceeds earmarked for charitable organizations, is a happy ending to Mona’s moving story.
Diagnosed with 4th stage Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 1996, Mona endured more than 27 operations, along with chemotherapy and radiation treatments, on her road to recovery. She relied on her husband, family, friends, and medical professionals as she healed physically. Emotionally, she charted her journey of the heart – joy, loss, healing – with her music. Music from the Heart features 11 original piano compositions written during her recovery.
Mona shares this evocative music to demonstrate her gratitude for the love and support she has received. She promised herself that if she continued to thrive, she would raise funds to help others in need of support, resources, and healing.
As an accomplished professional and musical performer, Mona has been performing for audiences since age seven. She was the keyboard and piano player with a local dance band while studying to become a pharmacist. Over the past decade, she has taught piano and performed with various local theatre companies. She performed for President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary during a visit they made to Rhode Island.

Mona currently works as a management consultant for specialty pharmacy and home infusion services. Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island presented her with the Ralph F. Gabellieri Award, in recognition of her unique integration of competency and compassion as a successful businesswoman and in her dedication to the community. Mona is a member of the Board of Directors of Better Lives Rhode Island. She lives in Raynham, Massachusetts with her husband and enjoys spending quality time with her two daughters, their husbands and three beautiful grandchildren.
